PhOSter Canada will provide access to educational resources via Internet as well as in-person. It will improve the quality, efficiency, and coverage of education as well as language, writing, and technical skills for people in the farming collectives across all gender and age groups.  We leverage modern information and communication technologies providing skills training, knowledge transfer, access to self-help learning opportunities to communities and farming cooperatives.

PhOSter Canada understands that there has been many ICT initiatives few are successful because of a lack of sustainability. Partnering with 3GW sustainability becomes our lynchpin and our strength.

Our strength in Digital Literacy lies in:

  • Digital citizenship
  • Open education, copyright, and open licensing in a digital world
  • Critical media literacies and associated digital skills.
  • Expertise in Open-Source Software such as LibreOffice.

Our Goal

As Digital Literacy Evangelists, PhOSter Canada’s creates opportunities for people to learn basic to advanced computer concepts and skills, so that they can use computer technology in everyday life and employment.

Practical and Marketable Skills

The infrastructure will be used to offer practical and marketable training to each community it serves. Implement a program to develop, record, and deliver basic computer training in the cooperatives. The program is based on modules on basic computer use (including opensource word processing, publishing, presentations, and spreadsheets tools). This will equip the community to take better advantage of the limited computing resources available.

Our IT agnostic philosophy enables all people no matter their economic circumstances to access technology and skills working with adults and youth, with a goal of teaching children.

T3I- teach the teacher infrastructure.

The scarcity of educational resources and the difficulty of training teachers to meet the needs of these communities.  These communities need learning enrichment programs for school-age children, educational resources to support teachers operating in these areas, as well as literacy programs and practical-skills programs for adults. This project cannot be all things to all people.  As the farming expands and more farms are created a need for training further afield will exist.  To address this issue.

PhOSter Canada has developed a hybrid T3- teach the teacher program based on the train-the-trainer and community-teaching model and methodology and IC3.

The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) is a global certification program designed to certify an individual’s digital literacy skills associated with basic computer and Internet use.

Since people present uniquely diverse learning styles, we are inspired to continually seek out new and innovative teaching methods. We have trained students from all walks of life including graduated university students, international professionals, and people with disabilities.
